Hi guys! Today I have some nail mail that I am VERY excited to share with you! Jacinta, The owner of PowderPerfect was kind enough to send me The Midlands Collection which consists of four breath taking polishes, and their Nail Care Pack (excluding the glass file) which includes: a matte topcoat, peel-off base coat, and smooth sailing base coat. I'm a bit late with this blog post since I've been constantly in and out of the hospital so I apologize! I also re-swatched the entire collection because I was not happy with my initial pictures. Anyways, PowderPerfect is based in Queensland, Australia. Their polishes are VERY high quality, vegan, and 5 free (contains no; formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthalate, camphor and tosylamide/formaldehyde resin)!! Each collection comes with it's own unique story, which I think is awesome! I was in love with each product I received and I can't wait to tell you guys all about them! :o)
The first polish from The Midlands Collection is "Robin Hood",“Robin Hood” is a rich Lincoln Green lacquer inspired by the cloth that Robin Hood & his merry men wore. The cloth is still made in the British town of Lincoln and is dyed using woad & weld to produce the unique green. In this swatch I'm wearing two coats plus powder perfect's topcoat. This polish was incredibly glossy on it's own but I added topcoat for consistency :) This polish applied like a dream, but I did have a little trouble cleaning it out of my cuticles and around my nail because it was so pigmented. But in the end, it was totally worth it! I love the color!
The next polish in the collection is the stunning, "Maid Marian", Is she a lady or a warrior? Handy with a needle or a sword? Maid Marian’s ever-changing character is reflected in this lacquer with a rich purple base filled with duochrome glitters that shift from gold to dark pink. This polish caught my eye the second I saw it, I'm a sucker for duo chrome! I did not capture the true beauty of this polish with my camera unfortunately so believe me when I say it is to die for! This is 3 coats with PowderPerfect's "Chandelier Shine" topcoat (top picture), and then matteified with their matte topcoat, "Matteificent Top Coat".
Next up is "Watchful Nights". Who will you find creeping through the forest on this dark, moonless night? Are the lookouts awake? Watchful Nights is an inky purple polish with a crelly formula. I was so happy to receive this beautiful dark purple! I don't own a single polish like it and I love the rich, dark color. This is two coats with topcoat, but again, it was equally as glossy without! I will definitely be using this again very soon, it's too hard to stay away from!
And last but not least from The Midlands Collection, my absolute favorite out of the collection, "Nottingham"! Nottingham is a colour as dark as the man’s intentions – a blackened navy blue polish with a smattering of silver holo. I love love LOVE this polish, I wore this one for a few days alone and I got a lot of compliments! I am in love with the night sky and the stars, and this polish reminded me of it so much I couldn't look away. It has so much depth to it, I couldn't believe my eyes when I wore it! This is ONE coat with topcoat (top picture) and then matteified in the middle picture. I just had to take a macro as well to show off the gorgeous holo! This one is an attention grabber for sure.
Alright, time for my quick review on the Nail Care Pack (excluding the glass file)!
-Smooth Sailing Base Coat: This base coat helps to level out your nail bed by smoothing over ridges and nourishes with hydrolyzed wheat proteins. I wore this base coat every day under all of my manis for around a week and a half and I honestly did notice that my manicures lasted a bit longer than usual! The base coat dries quick and it is not totally clear, so i did not feel uncomfortable about my yellow nails when I wore it alone for a day or two! This is officially my go-to base coat!
-Presto Peel Off Base Coat: This peel of base coat definitely had a glue-like consistency, and it did take a while to dry if you put too thick of a coat on. I decided to try it out with two thinnish coats, waiting for each coat to dry completely before adding anything on top. For swatching, I actually preferred two coats of this base coat to the peel off base coat I normally use, UNT. I tried this out using a thick glitter polish, and made the mistake of only using one coat, so the removal was not as great as id have liked it to be, but it did come off totally without the use of acetone which is all i care about! It just took a bit more elbow grease. It did not chip as quickly as other peel off base coats either! It didn't chip actually at all while I wore it for a couple days. I would recommend using 2 coats instead of one though for sure.
-Matteficent Top Coat: This matte topcoat is one I would absolutely recommend! With every other matte topcoat I've ever worn, they have all left little white flakes on top of my mani which are IMPOSSIBLE to remove. This top coat instead did not leave a single flake and left my nails with a gorgeous matte finish. It dries quick and looks great, I love it! This one is for sure taking the place of the others I own!
In conclusion, I officially LOVE this brand of polish. Each and every product I was sent was incredibly high quality and I am so happy to own the Midlands Collection and nail care products! The polishes were all very easy to apply, dried fairly quick, and were crazy glossy even without topcoat. I also love the bottle shapes and the brushes' handles are very comfortable in your hand. The nail care products made everything so much better and I am so grateful to PowderPerfect for sending me such incredible products! I can't wait to share their next upcoming collection with you in a day or two! :o) Thanks so much for reading!
